What Makes a Good Tip:
Foremost, a tip has to be about an event, sentiment or general phenomena that demonstrably happened, is happening or is to happen or existed or is to exist. This involves directly asserting that something important is behind us, occuring or afoot and needs to be paid attention to. The Highlander does not report school gossip or mere conjecture, so, you can wear your tin-foil hat or circulate salacious accounts of your teacher’s marital issues yourself (don’t actually), however we won’t write about it. Secondly, the tip must be pertinent to Seaholm students, parents, teachers, staff and/or administrators in some way. Some examples of good tips include, “There is corruption within BPS’s Central Administration,” “A teacher is sexually harassing students,” or, “Seaholm students formed a non-profit through their church and are serving the needy.” Those tips construct a good paradigm for what a tip should be, however, be cognizant of the fact that good tips don’t necessarily espouse the same themes. Lastly, good tips are as descriptive as reasonably possible. Make your claim, offer ways that it can be cobberated, then just tell us your story.
